LEADERSHIP FORWARD

Advisory Peer Groups

The challenges of leading a professional services firm are easier to navigate when you are not navigating them alone. Winding River Consulting Advisory Peer Groups bring together small cohorts of firm leaders for honest conversation, practical learning, and genuine accountability.

WHY PEER GROUPS

The Value of Peers Who Understand

Senior firm leaders often lack a peer group with whom they can be fully candid. The people inside the firm depend on them. Advisors and vendors have their own interests. Family and friends do not understand the context. The result is that many firm leaders make important decisions in relative isolation.

Winding River Consulting Advisory Peer Groups solve this by bringing together a small number of non-competing firm leaders who share similar challenges and stages of growth. Facilitated by Winding River Consulting, each group creates a confidential space for strategic exchange, honest feedback, and the kind of accountability that only peers can provide.

How It Works

How Groups Are Structured

Small by Design

Small, Non-Competing Cohorts

Comparable stages of firm development and non-competing membership, so conversation stays candid.

Each group is built from a small number of leaders at comparable stages of firm development. Because members are non-competing, they can speak openly about the challenges they actually face. Group size is cohort-specific and confirmed at enrollment.

  • What This Enables
  • Leaders at comparable stages of growth
  • Non-competing membership for candid conversation
  • Cohort size confirmed at enrollment

Groups meet on a regular cadence with a consistent session format — member-driven agenda items, hot seat discussions, and facilitated learning on a relevant topic. Meeting frequency is cohort-specific and confirmed at enrollment.

  • Inside Each Session
  • Member-driven agenda items
  • Hot seat discussions on live challenges
  • Facilitated learning on a relevant topic

FIT

Who Joins an Advisory Peer Group

Advisory Peer Groups are designed for firm owners, managing partners, and senior practice leaders in professional services firms. Ideal members are engaged in active leadership of a growing firm, willing to contribute as generously as they receive, and committed to genuine accountability with their peers.

The cohort size created an environment that made discussions especially meaningful. It allowed us to speak openly about the similar challenges we each face within our own organizations and to learn from fellow leaders about what has and has not worked in their experience. Those insights are valuable to bring back and apply within our own teams. Another particularly positive aspect has been the relationships built within the cohort. I have been able to connect with fellow members outside of sessions to explore opportunities for collaboration and to exchange ideas.
